Sorry for the lack of posts.

I’m very sorry.

But to be fair I’ve been watching this  over and over. I’m not sure if this is good or not. I’ll be the first to admit that I love junk and anything junk related, and also I love Asians (all races, not to leave anyone out). But this is taking both things to the next level.

This is the new MTV show (?) that has been heralded as the Jersey Shore for Asians. Its the young and beautiful of Korea Town on the West Coast of America, just acting up and gettin pretty throwed. Theres drama, loud voices and perosnalities, and cheesy cross fades and effects between segments. My eldest brother just went on holiday and happened to stop  by K-Town. according to what he said its as ‘on and poppin’ as the show kinda make it look (?).  He especially liked the quick changes between English and Korean, I think it gave him a racial, globalizing boner.

Now growing up and going to school in a very Korea-saturated area I can kinda see some of the shit this show is doing. Though in America i know that they are up to they’re 5th or 6th generation, so we (Sydney, and Australia) can’t really compete. Unless you live purely by stereotypes and generalisations, everyone knows that not all Asians are smart (I can attest to that…as I am one). And that despite what everyone thinks Asians can do some pretty stanky shit, some really really stanky shit. But seeing this one the televisual screen is still a trip.

At one point in my whole life would like to see what K-town is like in my life and see whats good. You could call it a pretty shallow dream and all i have to say to that is…thanks man.

Check it out and tell me if you think its good, and more likely that you hate it.

I think one of them is a single mom too, that’s heaps rough lol.

Everything is new!

Its been a little while since i’ve some new drawings, so instead of pacing them out imma post a whole bunch at once!

The drawings in this batch i would consider some of the weirdest stuff I’ve ever drawn. i was feeling pretty inspired at the time, but can’t really say by what. Alot of the features present in these drawings i would like to re-visit. Like the different textures criss crossing together and just the type of hyper real  vibe of  the drawings. Enjoy!

I’m also in the works of putting together a zine. the zine is titled Scumbag and is really about everything and anything. Some of it will be seedy, some interesting, some delicious, what I’m basically saying is that it will be a masterpiece. This is a little trailer I made, get ready (if you want, it might be shit. In that case get the opposite of ready, settled?).

Also here is some new music,EVERYTHING IS NEW!

WoRd!!!!!

A little while ago Crez and i were asked to teach art at a holiday program at our old primrary school.

I cannot imagine a group of kids who learnt less in two hours than these kids.

The opprunity came about when my friend (who I have teased many times at being my “token white friend”) asked us to teach the kids some art for a couple of hours. with about one minute of thought we said yes. For the factor of helping out a good friend, teaching the kids some art stuff we were never taught and had to learn ourselves, and at the very least have a fun time trolling.

The day rolled around and we walked into the classroom, the place was packed with 30 kids (from all ages). At this point (like many points in our lives) we realised we were unprepared and really under qualified. After  a brief intro and basic technique lesson of making a dog out of shapes we got down to work. What happened next and what we learnt….can be explained in dot points.

  • All kids are different, yet they all want one thing…attention
  • Kids will tell you the most pointless things about their family and friends
  • Kids love asking questions
  • Year 6 kids are the best, unlike high school kids they’re not in that “prove yourself” phase but are mature enough to do what you tell em
  • Kids will bicker in hate in each others face’s
  • Given the time, even quiet kids have something to say
  • Give kids anything messy and they will be amused, but consequently they will create mess
  • They learn quick, though will practice and practice for hours
  • Kids are un-stereotypically respectful sometimes
  • I was caught with my pants half way down my butt. After being dobbed in by one of the kids i realised $WVG must have skipped they’re generation
  • Kids have a fashion sense these days (if its good fashion is debatable)
  • If it all becomes too much flip on a movie, hit the lights and chill the fuck out
  • Kids are the future?

Overall me and Crez had a good time. I hope even one of them learnt something about drawing or art, at the very least they got an example of Asians that have no native tongue and are bad at maths.  Here are some photos from the day, they include drawings and some clay stuff they did. Shout outs to Paul and to our school (that shall remain disclosed).

Here’s a few things I liked from my childhood. I had a downright unhealthy obsession with TV so i liked a lot of different stuff

VHV!

To me movies are like food

If thats works the other way around i’m not sure

Sometimes you feel like something heavy, rich and will stay with you for days after (maybe like a really thick and chunky winter soup). Sometimes you feel like something so stupid and mind numbing it almost has the same euphoric/gulit inducing feeling of having a really dirty slice of drunk pizza. And just sometimes, you want something light, something that will satisfy your desire at the time and then float away after.

This was the feeling i had bout one week. It was one of those nights where nothing seemed too appetising, but it was too early in the night for sleep. I’m the type of guy who loves movies, but i have to get myself pumped for a real heavy/intricate movie. Blockbusters are good too, but can feel like too much at 11 a night. So I decided to watch a romantic comedy, but not just any…a Korean one.

Now i think you would be hard pressed to find a better country that does romantic comedies like Korea. Maybe its something to do with their love for exaggerated almost slap stick humour and intense loyalty to melodramas. I’m not expert in everything or anything Korean but it feels like they have this double standard of being super cute and innocent, while still being harsh and tough (maybe I’m wrong, but really…i don’t give a fuck). Whatever it is they have been able to make some of the most charming/cringe worthy moments in romantic comedy history.

After that initial night I have now smashed through another four (in the past i have watched others, though that was awhile ago). After much study, I now present…The recipe for  a Korean romantic comedy.

1. Have  one strong female lead: She has to be tough, while having moments of vulnerability. She will also have at least one moment where she is drinking or eating two minute noodles in pyjamas or something.

2. The Dude has to be either super cool, or super uncool: Theres really no comprimise here.

3.There has to be either a stern best friend or one that yells harsh shit alot.

4.The characters will either be students or have really, really good jobs.

5. Some sort of wierd incident will happen. One of them will be in debt or have some sort of ‘slave duty’.

6.They will not initially not like each other.

7.Slap Stick situations of extreme embrassment will happen, you ill cringe, you will laugh…your seedy.

8. At Some point someone will be faking, or have a secret. This will be revealed at like the three quarter mark.

9.Someone will dosomething selfless…the angst will be intense.

10. There will always be a trip in there for some reason, i have no idea why. I’m sure Seoul or where ever the movie is set will have a nice enough look to be enough, but still.

11. There will be a montage of activities.

12. Time will pass at some point.

13. They will either get together, or become fond friends.

And that’s pretty much it. I watched like four of these in a row, and i swear it has killed the bit of my brain that has logic. Instead it has been replaced with a tumour that is a mixture between estrogen and bulgogi.  But i will watch on, as I’m smashing a list of ten. If  had to recommend (I don’t really have to) you should watch My Sassy girl or 200 Pounds Beauty. Now get watching you seedy, seedy, SEEDY people (just like me!aha!).

I’ve got a new batch of drawings to post up (everyone was looking forward to that! right?).

And also something really awesome to post up (you should be looking forward to seeing this).

My new batch of drawings have been inspired by this idea I had of people semi exploding into things. And when i say “things” i mean really random situation and creatures.

I had a bunch of fun drawing these and clocked em out pretty quickly. I might add some colour to these and keep drawing more of em’, so expect more.

I’ve also been doing some work on this new online series called UNPLANNED AMERICA. Its about three loveable and curious adventure-men discovering everything America. The show is random, cool, suprising and genuine. Check out the  site and follow on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Also get involved and help these guys do something sick!

And that’s what’s new!

GYEVH!!!!

I will probably never be a pro at Photoshop.

I can live with that.

Recently it feels like I should learn Photoshop, as a tool to help my drawings.  I’ll be the first to say that my skills are borderline crap but with advise and help (from Crez)I can do it semi al-right.

So check it out, the stuff is a little weird. I did these in like half an hour, so excuse the shitness (though even if i had longer it wouldn’t have come out any better, I’m that bad).

For pop trivia sake the girl I drew had a nipple showing, but alas i erased it after a little debate because it was positioned a bit too high.

HVH!

Couture Ninjas everywhere!

$WERVE!

This might be the hardest clip of 2012 for the following reasons…

  • Polo bucket hats
  • Asian girl vibing out
  • Jordan I’s
  • Upside down rapping
  • Kind of dodgy font

Check it!

GOLD TEETH V BVTHING VPE!

During uni i had to learn alot of different production programs.

I was never really good at any of them, merely a jack of all trades…and only a semi master of a few.

As of recent I have had to bust these programs out once again to start putting some stuff together. Over the last couple of days i have been using Photoshop to just do some of my own work. Check it below

I got a pic from a Japanese magazine and drew a squirrel over her face, cause I thought she kinda looked like a squirrel. With the help of Crez once again i was able to play around with the image. Alot of the stuff i did was kinda of subtle (isn’t that really the best type of effects?). So thanks Crez for giving me a crash course in Photoshop once again.

I also now have twitter and tumblr, its kinda similar to the stuff on here but in alot less detail and also alot more blunt. You can check them both here.

Things are happeninggggg!!!

HVI!!!!!

For some reason one of main subjects of inspiration lately has been the French bulldog.

Honestly i have no idea.

I’ve always thought that the french bulldog was adorable, in a kinda wierd way. Its not the cutest or smartest of dogs but it has somehow warmed its way into the heart’s of dog owners around the world.

The reason i started to draw them might be attributed to my subscription to the Youtube channel dedicated to the dog Mirco (pronounced Mil-Co in Japanese). This channel basically just details the day to day escpades of Mirco and his best friend, the baby daughter of the owners. Watching these videos will probably restore your faith in humanity while simultaneously waste your life.

It might also be the fact that i started to follow Benny Gold on Instagram, and a lot of his photos vary between lifestyle stuff and his French bulldog. I notice that alot of people who have French Bulldogs have daughters (or even just kids). Wierd? or am i just very uneducated in this area of “dog and man” relations?

Or maybe, just maybe it is my subconscious manifestation of my long standing desire to have had a pet growing up. That my drawings are starting to visually replicate the childhood I never had? That maybe I never had this idea at all and that a crack team of subconscious experts had entered my mind, inception style. Lead by the Great Gatsby and Tommy Solomon, they made me believe that this “inspiration” was actually genuine.  Nah fuck that shit, its not that….maybe….nah (probably).

WELL for whatever reason it is they are hella fun to draw. Its a litlle challenging to try and get the head size in line with the body  but once you do its pretty sweet. When I draw mine for some unexplained reason I like to dress em up wearing semi couture/punk gear. And so here I present my gallery of French Bulldog drawings .

Here is Mirco the dog doin his thing

You should watch his videos on mute while listening to this, cause I never had…

DVWGGGG!!!!
