Sorry for the lack of posts.

I’m very sorry.

But to be fair I’ve been watching this  over and over. I’m not sure if this is good or not. I’ll be the first to admit that I love junk and anything junk related, and also I love Asians (all races, not to leave anyone out). But this is taking both things to the next level.

This is the new MTV show (?) that has been heralded as the Jersey Shore for Asians. Its the young and beautiful of Korea Town on the West Coast of America, just acting up and gettin pretty throwed. Theres drama, loud voices and perosnalities, and cheesy cross fades and effects between segments. My eldest brother just went on holiday and happened to stop  by K-Town. according to what he said its as ‘on and poppin’ as the show kinda make it look (?).  He especially liked the quick changes between English and Korean, I think it gave him a racial, globalizing boner.

Now growing up and going to school in a very Korea-saturated area I can kinda see some of the shit this show is doing. Though in America i know that they are up to they’re 5th or 6th generation, so we (Sydney, and Australia) can’t really compete. Unless you live purely by stereotypes and generalisations, everyone knows that not all Asians are smart (I can attest to that…as I am one). And that despite what everyone thinks Asians can do some pretty stanky shit, some really really stanky shit. But seeing this one the televisual screen is still a trip.

At one point in my whole life would like to see what K-town is like in my life and see whats good. You could call it a pretty shallow dream and all i have to say to that is…thanks man.

Check it out and tell me if you think its good, and more likely that you hate it.

I think one of them is a single mom too, that’s heaps rough lol.

To me movies are like food

If thats works the other way around i’m not sure

Sometimes you feel like something heavy, rich and will stay with you for days after (maybe like a really thick and chunky winter soup). Sometimes you feel like something so stupid and mind numbing it almost has the same euphoric/gulit inducing feeling of having a really dirty slice of drunk pizza. And just sometimes, you want something light, something that will satisfy your desire at the time and then float away after.

This was the feeling i had bout one week. It was one of those nights where nothing seemed too appetising, but it was too early in the night for sleep. I’m the type of guy who loves movies, but i have to get myself pumped for a real heavy/intricate movie. Blockbusters are good too, but can feel like too much at 11 a night. So I decided to watch a romantic comedy, but not just any…a Korean one.

Now i think you would be hard pressed to find a better country that does romantic comedies like Korea. Maybe its something to do with their love for exaggerated almost slap stick humour and intense loyalty to melodramas. I’m not expert in everything or anything Korean but it feels like they have this double standard of being super cute and innocent, while still being harsh and tough (maybe I’m wrong, but really…i don’t give a fuck). Whatever it is they have been able to make some of the most charming/cringe worthy moments in romantic comedy history.

After that initial night I have now smashed through another four (in the past i have watched others, though that was awhile ago). After much study, I now present…The recipe for  a Korean romantic comedy.

1. Have  one strong female lead: She has to be tough, while having moments of vulnerability. She will also have at least one moment where she is drinking or eating two minute noodles in pyjamas or something.

2. The Dude has to be either super cool, or super uncool: Theres really no comprimise here.

3.There has to be either a stern best friend or one that yells harsh shit alot.

4.The characters will either be students or have really, really good jobs.

5. Some sort of wierd incident will happen. One of them will be in debt or have some sort of ‘slave duty’.

6.They will not initially not like each other.

7.Slap Stick situations of extreme embrassment will happen, you ill cringe, you will laugh…your seedy.

8. At Some point someone will be faking, or have a secret. This will be revealed at like the three quarter mark.

9.Someone will dosomething selfless…the angst will be intense.

10. There will always be a trip in there for some reason, i have no idea why. I’m sure Seoul or where ever the movie is set will have a nice enough look to be enough, but still.

11. There will be a montage of activities.

12. Time will pass at some point.

13. They will either get together, or become fond friends.

And that’s pretty much it. I watched like four of these in a row, and i swear it has killed the bit of my brain that has logic. Instead it has been replaced with a tumour that is a mixture between estrogen and bulgogi.  But i will watch on, as I’m smashing a list of ten. If  had to recommend (I don’t really have to) you should watch My Sassy girl or 200 Pounds Beauty. Now get watching you seedy, seedy, SEEDY people (just like me!aha!).
